How to Add and Edit Product Categories

We explain how to work with product categories and subcategories.

A product category is a group of products that customers perceive as related or interchangeable. To do this, the product range is segmented into product categories according to the preferences and tastes of the target audience.

Where are the categories located?

This section is located in the «Catalog» — «Categories» menu. Here you will see a list of all categories previously created manually or automatically during import or via API.

By default, all subcategories are collapsed. To expand the full structure, click on the arrow to the left of the name:

How to create categories manually

To add a new category, click on the «Add category» button, and a window will open for filling in the fields. There are two types of categories:

  • Main category (parent) — in the category creation window, enter the name and click «Add»;

  • Subcategory — to create one, select the category to which it belongs from the drop-down list of previously added categories in the «Parent category» field.

Editing and deleting categories

There are two buttons next to each category in the list:

  1. Edit category — change the name or select a parent category;

  2. Delete unnecessary — all subcategories in this category will be deleted along with it. After deleting individual categories, products from these categories will remain in KeyCRM.

Once categories have been created, they become available in products. You can attach each product to a category and filter analytics reports by product.
