Measurement Units of Quantity of the Product

We explain how to add your own measurement types to products and work with them in KeyCRM.

Measurement types for products are a useful tool for any business, and especially indispensable for entrepreneurs who sell spices, fabrics, grains, and other products where measurement accuracy plays an important role. They allow you to accurately determine the quantity of products, taking into account the smallest details, and provide convenience in managing your product range.

In KeyCRM, you can customize measurement types for each specific product according to your needs and industry.

How to add your own measurement units

By default, all products use pieces. However, you can create your own units, such as kilograms, grams, liters, packages, etc. To do this:

Go to «Settings» → «Products» → «General» tab.
In the «Unit of quantity» field, click on the «+Add» button.
Enter the name of the new measurement type and press Enter. You can add several more measurement types in the same way.
Be sure to save your settings by clicking the «Save» button at the bottom of the page.

Note! You can add up to 20 measurement units for use in products. The name of the unit must be no more than 10 characters long.

How to manage measurement units

You cannot edit a created measurement unit. If you need to change the name, you must delete it to do so. Then create a new one with the desired name.

Important! Deleting a measurement unit does not remove it from the product where it was used. They will continue to be displayed in the system with this unit. However, if you want to select it for other products, it will no longer be available.

To delete, click on the cross to the right of the name:

How to specify the measurement unit for a product

The unit is specified for each product separately. If a product has variations, it will automatically apply to all variations of that product.

There are three ways to specify it for a product:

You can specify the measurement unit manually when editing/creating a product in the catalog from the units you created earlier. To do this, open the product editing window and select the desired unit from the list in the «Default dimensions» section.
You can apply it when creating products by import. If you have specified incorrect units earlier, you can update them using import.
You can transfer units when creating products via API.

Important! When importing or creating products via API, the specified units will only be saved at the product level. New units will not be created at the system level. Accordingly, they will not be available for selection in other products manually. To do this, you need to create them in the settings.

Measurement units for products in orders and pipelines

They are displayed in products throughout the system. You can:

add one-time products to an order by selecting a measurement unit for them from the list of existing units in the system;
when creating an order or pipeline card via API, transfer products with the specified unit;
when importing orders or cards into the pipeline, also transfer products with the specified unit.

Note! If you transfer an order or a card with a product whose item number is already in the system, the measurement unit for the product will be the one specified for it in the catalog.

Now you can configure and manage measurement units for each product, ensuring convenient assortment management.
